We are always looking for more on and off the water volunteers. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain higher boating education, make new friends and give back to the community.
If this is something you’d be interested in learning more about becoming a Coastguard volunteer come down to the Coastguard shed to crew change over on Monday night at 7:00 pm at our unit headquarters, 213 Maraetai Drive, Maraetai and chat with the local volunteers
At crew changeover we check the operational gear on Maraetai Rescue One to ensure everything is in proper working order. Maraetai Rescue One is registered under MOSS (marine operator safety system), which means we have to check the boat over before we head out, every time. As our unit operates on a call out basis, this is not possible, so we check it every Monday instead.
